  2. You should choose a ring with a symbol to show the society that how comfortable and proud you are being who you are. The symbol of male with a circle and an attached arrow was the astronomical sign of mars during the times of Romans. These days entangled Mars symbols depict gay pride and the love between men. In case of lesbian wedding rings, the designers may use a triangle as a sign of gay pride. However, more often used symbol is the symbol of Venus. Venus is not only a sign of Lesbianism but is also used to depict the power of a woman.

Freedom ring is a symbol made up of six rings where each ring is of a different color and each stands for a different quality. Orange stands for healing, red shows life, green means nature, blue depicts harmony and yellow is for sun. The concept of freedom ring was designed by David Spada. Thus, get freedom rings on your wedding band to depict a desire for the beautiful qualities.
  4. Choose a suitable material for the wedding band. Till a few years back, gold was supposed to be the best choice for a wedding ring. Gold, as an expensive element, vouched for the fact that the suitor is capable enough of meeting the financial needs of his partner. However, things have changed now. However, the needs in a marriage have undergone gradual changes with time. The need for emotional support has become more than the need for financial support. Thus, the choice of material for wedding bands has expanded too. Some designers use materials like stainless steel to make unique wedding bands.

Which Finger For My Gay Wedding Ring?

August 24th, 2010

It is such good news that you are getting married. Let me share with you that I have spent my entire life planning my own wedding and I know for sure that if you are getting married, you must be giving days to plan everything perfectly. One of the very common questions that gay couples ask before wedding is – which finger for my gay wedding ring?

The answer is – the one that you like. Yes, in my personal opinion you should choose a finger that speaks about what you want to tell the the world about your relationship. If you wish to specify and tell world about your sexual orientation and that you are committed to a gay partner, you could choose to wear your wedding ring on the same finger as the engagement finger but only of the right hand. Gay people choose this finger to tell the world that they are different from the heterosexuals. Similarly, you can choose any other finger as you want. The wedding ring finger was supposed to be the fourth finger of the left hand as it was believed that the veins running from this finger (vena amoris) reaches the heart. However, things have changed now and people see their love above these things and hence, if you have faith in your love and you are committed, no matter what finger you choose, your love will last forever.

Some gay people choose to wear their wedding bands in the same finger as do the heterosexual people. There are basically two reasons for it – because they want to show the world that their relationship is just like any other heterosexual couple’s or it may be due to some professional reasons. For instance, people working in army are not very much in the favor of exposing their sexual orientations and hence they like to wear their wedding band in the traditional ring finger of the left hand like any other couple. Similarly, there could be other reasons as well.

Thus, to answer your question, which finger for my gay wedding ring, choose the one that you like. Choose a finger that you think you want to see your gay wedding ring on. If you want to make it a point about your sexuality, make it the ring finger of the right hand. And if you want to prove that you are like any other heterosexual couples in this world, you should go for the traditional engagement finger of the left hand. Lastly, if you just want to seem different from all the other married people, go for any random finger.

I hope now you know your answer. Have a Happy Married Life.
